OOOHHH! You found one :)

Yup, it always amazed me how they fit that fullsize DD under there. Those DD could go for ever with the small tub, and if Im not mistaken the spin speed is higher?

Looks like all is needed is an outer tub scrub and a cord.

Yeah I sure did Robert...

I was afraid about the suspension rods, but they are affordable, thanks for the link. Well I put a temp cord on it and tried a dry run. Nothing but a humming noise. Hmmm. Either it won't engage without any water or maybe the water pump is jammed. It hummed with all cycles. Anyone have any ideas? I opened up the lint filter and it was clogged, the fabric softener dispenser had a thick covering of gunk. The tub and agitator are quite clean though. Stay tuned.

Huming...

Obviously the motor or part of it is getting power, but no rotation for some reason. Several things could be doing this, and the only way to check is with some dismantling.

Pull the pump off and see if the impeller can be rotated and nothing is blocking it. At this point with the pump off you could try running the motor again. If still nothing take the motor off check that it spins freely along with the transmission. The transmission should turn with great ease counter clockwise (agitation)and some minor hesitation/resistance at first in clockwise(spin).

If all rotates freely by hand without stalling run the motor by itself off of the transmission and pump. If it hums than the problem is electrical or with the motor itself.

At this point a known working DD motor might help, and a volt/ohm meter will come to the rescue more than anything else.

Hope its a quick fix, best of luck here!

Nice find!

Unfortunately, the DD version of the compact washer did not have the fast spin of the BD portables.

Those slits at the top of the tub do something really neat. This design fills into the outer tub, but during the spin, those slits grab the fill spray and sort of scoop it in to the tub.

I hope that you can get it working and keep it. It's such a small toy.

A blast from the past..................................

I had this washer back in 1987 unitl 1991 when I lived in an apartment.

Plastic outer tub lets the light shine through...kinda cool.

<span style="font-size: medium;">I should rig some lights inside the cabinet.  One on each corner...yeah...that does sound hot. I can just hear hubby: "Louie, you have some s'planing to do!"</span>

It spins!

<span style="font-size: medium;">It seems that it will not agitate unless it has water, but it does spin. Funny, I thought it had no water, but I guess some was still left, a few cups of sudsy water came out of the drain hose. </span>
