For some time the main bearing in my Dyson has been noisy, have had it apart for ages and finally gotten around to tackling removing the bearing. Certainly not the easiest task! Finally the old bearing is out and I thought I would share some pics.

What the full purple one? I'd quite like the silver one But this was a bargain.
This one is a standard CR01, but I found a Memory key panel on ebay and fitted that. The switches that are on the memory are on the standard console board, just hidden. =)

So thats what the inside parts of the dyson look like! I have a CR01 machine, but it is our second and has been reconstructed by ourselves. They are very noisy machines and I have never liked them. Can't wait to get a better branded machine, it doesn't take a long number of years or months for the parts to be replaced on these machines!!

Certainly a much nosier machine in contra-rotation mode, and a unique sound. I think they are hideous to look at, although look a bit more refined in pure white, and the silver versions.
I do like the approach that they could do something totally different to what had been done before. Although it may have been done on the sloping front keymatic, just not sure if the pulsator turned opposite to the drum or the drum stayed stationary?

Keymatic

I always wondered about the wash action on the sloping fronts, I have seen your videos online and I bet it weighs a tonne! Is their any vids without a load to see?

Yes the bearin had to the biggest I have seen in a domestic washer, 90x50x36mm. The replacement I have sourced is 34mm deep, so will find a 1 or 2 mm washer with a 50mm bore to make sure it doesn't inhibit the contra action. Not so happy with the bearing seal that I have sourced, it will be a gamble I guess. It is 1mm less in bore but does fit nicely on the seal collar. Just the front lip is not as proud as the original, although the replacement is double lipped like the original. I will keep it my small collection. It has been a challenge that's for sure =)

Will post some more pics as progress is made. Waiting for a 6904zz bearing to replace the rear inner bearing. A little noisy and for the sake of whilst all apart would seem pointless to ignore. The set up is actually very simple, just a few planet gears with a motorised ramp to move the gears into position for contra rotate mode. Nb must work out how to reduce the size of the images i'm posting!

The yellow thingy

these are to do with the OOB detection, they are piezo accelerometers, and are used at the 800 and 1100 rpm part of the spin phase.
