    maytag wringer washer pump issue

A simple adjustment might be all that's needed. Check that when you activate the pump, the pump wheel is making contact with the lip on the pulley itself. That's what actually drives the pump.

Is my wringer motor running too hot?

I have a 1964 model E2LP And I just used it for about 90 minutes. When I was done I gave it the hot motor test. I'd never checked that before. So, it was hot, I could hold my hand against it for about 5 to 10 seconds before it was so hot I had to remove my hand. Given that I think I have a...

    Maytag j2l wringer washer

Problem Solved? Did that fix the slow agitation problem? Was the old agitator slipping?

    Maytag j2l wringer washer

Spline? Did the spline from the old agitator come off with it or is the old spline still stuck on the agitator shaft? Also look at the bottoms of both old and new agitator. Do they look the same?

    Part for Maytag Wringer Washer

Look up MAYTAG WRINGER WASHER on EBay. There's a set listed for $21.50 including hardware. The guy selling them is named Phil from Ovid N.Y. He's a GREAT resource for old Maytag wringer washer parts. You're washer is the Maytag E2L. E2LP if it has the pump. That was the top of the line Maytag...

    Maytag j2l wringer washer

They tie together, The agitator and the wringer. So if one, the agitator, moves slowly and the other, the wringer moves at regular speed, there's something wrong with the agitation. What I mean is when the motor is plugged in, the power unit is in motion and so are the gears that drive the...

    Maytag j2l wringer washer

Water level Shouldn't have anything to do with it. Does it agitate at normal speed when empty? When it agitates slowly does the wringer also slow down? The first thing I'd check is a slipping or worn belt. If the wringer works at normal speed when the agitation is slow I'd look at the agitator...

    Santa came early..sort of

1968 My Mother had that exact Sears dryer. She bought it new in 1968. A very nice dryer with the lighted console and top mounted lint filter. There was even a connection next to the lint screen to add a container of "scent", which we never used after the container it came with was gone. Moms...

Maytag wringer washer agitator stuck on the post

That should be OK then! These don't require a lot of oil to stay lubricated. If you only lost a shot glass full, I wouldn't worry about it. Larry

Maytag wringer washer agitator stuck on the post

Oh NO! These things don't like to be tipped over. If you must tip them over only tip so the front is against the floor. There is a vent on the horizontal shaft that goes from the power unit to the wringer shaft and the oil from the power unit will leak out if they're tipped any other way. I...

Maytag wringer washer agitator stuck on the post

That's good news Mike! One warning from my experience. Before I got the idea to cut it off, I had tried brute force. Lots of hammering and banging on that spline. Later once I got it up and running I had a recurring problem with water getting into the power unit. Long story short, I may have...

Maytag wringer washer agitator stuck on the post

A power Jig Saw Is what I finally used. I took a metal cutting blade and cut against the spline. Not all the way through to the shaft but you probably could. So after that, a screwdriver to pry it with and it came off, after 4 LONG days of trying, like a loose tooth. I never heard of a pump...

    Maytag j2l painting restoration

No reason it shouldn't Just take your time and work carefully. Like Brad says, several light coats and keep it even. Then after it was done and I let it cure for a few days. Then I buffed it with auto polish and that evened out any rougher texture that was uneven. Ask Brad for a picture of...

    Maytag j2l painting restoration

Sanding and primer are part of it too. I used a Mouse Sander all the way down to bare metal where I had to. Sanded the rest just enough. Then cleaned with a tack cloth a wiped over with rubbing alcohol. NOW you have a surface you can prime and then paint and it will never flake or chip off...

    Maytag j2l painting restoration

I'm not sure . . . Because I have an E2LP machine but I think you have to take the tub out to replace the gasket. Mine doesn't have that but the tub removal is the same. You have to remove the 6 bolts from the center plate and maybe the wringer post too. Then lift the tub out, replace the...

    61 Kenmore Dryer - Lubriplate 89318

I used Lubriplate When I worked at a Xerox refurbishment plant in Oak Brook Il. in the 70's and 80's. I don't even know if they still make it but if they do it would be available at any Hardware store with the other grease and lubricants. It was the color and consistency of peanut butter. In...

    MOVING A MAYTAG E2L

Many options but The easiest is Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. They sell it at Auto Parts stores. You just rub it on and buff it off. You'll go through a lot of rags as the oxidation comes off but it's easier than scrubbing with SOS pads or fine steel wool. But those are options too. But...

What year is my Maytag E2L

Probably January 1961 I don't have my decoder handy but Maytag didn't start the raised lettering on the front until late 1959. They kept that until they changed the coloring from red to turquoise in 1966.

    Speed Queen wringer rolls!

Same thing happened to me! In my Maytag. A pair of jeans got stuck going through the wringer and when I got them released there was a blue streak that transferred over to the light roller. I just left it alone and after a few weeks of regular machine usage, it cleared up on it's own.
