Pat,you are a wonderfully informed guy. I know that some of these source websites have mixed up data however. For example,
GE claims that they invented the 1st integrated motor and pump design in 1967, which is odd since KitchenAid, the inventer of the 1st home spray arm machine already had that years earlier as did most everyone by then. Also,on this website, Robert posted a thread on Walker machines including the square 1932 GE which was still non-automatic.Sears website is sometimes mixed up too, though you are right that Whirlpool started as Upton. So it's not a reflection on you but on them. Many portable non-automatics were already out in the 20s. My source for that was to go to the library and personally looked at the old magazine articles from them. Since this was a long time back , I don't remember the mags, but there is a drawing of one on the Garden Web laundry Forum. Odd to have it there but it was.Consumer Reports had automatic WP dishwashers in their test, the D/M ones before 1959, rating them fair in washing.I appreciate the company history you've shared,I'm sure I could learn alot from you, thanks.David
