I'm not much of a capitalist, but I distinctly remember getting a chill up my spine when a commercial would show a new dishwasher or CAT scanner or lightbulb or whatever and then the full orchestra and chorus would swing into "G-E, we bring good things to living! We bring good things to life!" And then that would often be punctuated by, say, an LED of the just advertised new electronically monitored refrigerator flashing and beeping twice as if to say, "G-E!" Ah, the silly 80s.
