Hotpoint Aqualtis
Hi there.
I had the Hotpoint Aqualtis model no AQXXF 149 PM, it was a great machine, until I drove into the door and broke it.
It was very quiet on wash and spin, hold a lot of clothes, great for loading and unloading.

HMMM now where do i begin
I have had mine about 2 months now and have formed a few opinions of it.
LIKES:
Wash performance Ok to Good
Rinsing is good
Ease of use
Can open the door during part of wash program
7kg load is good for summer quilts
Quiet motor
Styling
DISLIKES
The worst spin balance i have come across can take ages and sometimes aborts spin altogether (needs re-designing)
Noisy pump and water inlet (Hotpoint should be fined under the trades description act for making claims like "shhh whisper quiet" on these machines
The machine cabinet vibrates at high spin speeds sometimes and this is very noisy
Build qaulity is cheap, flimsy and to the limit
Paint is already flaking off in places
And of course the usual long wash times
I think if Hotpoint had spent a little more money on the build qaulity and qaulity of parts used it would be in a much better class and hence a better machine
Other than that i still prefer to use it compared to my Bosch 1400 express

I had Hotpoint aqualtis for 8 months, and I was dissatisfied with pretty much everything!
Fast wash 30 is really bad, having just 8minute wash.
Rinses on synthtetics cycle are slow (as soak tumbles) and they don"t doo pretty much anything (after cycle I put on normal cottons rinse, and water is really NOT clear!)
Balancing system really bad, tend"s to balance for ages, and doo nothing!
Only cottons, jeans, and Bed&Bath are usable without any "modyfying" and results are JUST FINE, not EXCELLENT!
And finally, it"s circuit board died, and they didn"t repaired it, and after 2 months it was DEAD, I had a right to give it back for full money refound! I just wonder how would it look like if I hadn"t had 2 more washers.
Now, I have Candy GO4 1274 LH (a version of Hoover Dynamics), and it is MORE QUIET than Aqualtis, and just to compare, FW30 on it has 14 minute wash, and fast tumbles rinse, so it actually can wash, and heat to 40.
I am not suggesting you to buy Candy (if you don"t like them), but I am highly suggesting you not to buy Aqualtis. Just my personal oppineon

i have an aqualtis and it is gr8! i say go 4 it mine is 5 years old and it has not given me trouble atall so anyway go 4 it!!!.

wow some eye opening opinions here, because i already have a hotpoint aqualtis tumble dryer and its is very good at drying and caring for your clothes because i was so impressed with the dryer i was wondering if the washing machine is just as good plus it would match my dryer because the washer i have now is a zanussi the spin cycle is driving me nuts its so loud and aggressive and its showing signs of giving up sooner or later but its a real trooper its been 10yrs since i have had it but between those 10yrs i have fixed it a few times but i would get another zanussi but they do not sell 9kg zanussi washers, i need a machine with a large drum, 9kg minimum any ideas anyone?

thanks for yours ideas but i have done some research on the latest aqualtis washers i have found majority good reviews about the machine, and hoover is also a good make but hoover for me is not as flexible as the aqualtis on the wash choice, but ive also heard the hoovers do have ok to good cleaning performance but noisy spin cycles

Hoovers not flexible?
That only looks on the dial.. but don"t forget that you have a "time manager function" that changes cycle intirely, also synthtetics cycle is having great rinse, and rapid washes are surely better (just see 8mins 25rpm wash on Aqualtis + 25rpm rinses, and on Candy r30 is 14min. wash and 17m. rinse (all tumbles are normal speed (50rpm) and those rinses are as effective as on Aqualtis because aqualtis lost time on spin bursts that Candy turned out (because it is supposed for small load)..
But anyway You buying xD get whatever you want

I've had a 1600 spin Aqualtis since 2007 and it's a great machine. We've had absolutely no issues with it whatsoever.
They are incredibly quite machines. The fill is a little bit 'hissy' and the pump's not the quietest I've ever heard, but the machine is overall exceptionally silent. They may have improved the pump noise in the more recent revisions.
Was performance is very good in my experience and the rinse performance is excellent.
The drum is enormous, so yes, you will have the odd fiddly balance problem if you are running very small loads.
It's exceptionally easy to programme and has very user-friendly controls and good options.
All in all, the build quality is middle-of-the road. It's not Miele high end AEG afterall and the price is a lot lower than what you'd pay for a similarly spec'd machine in that league.
Personally, I wouldn't touch Candy (Hoover / Otsein) with a barge pole. There were some serious problems with the drums on their large capacity machines (See: link below)

All the Dynamics didn"t exist before 2010, so they are 100% secure. And there was never a case of explosion anywhere except germany (and sweeden)... maybe they should give a second chance to Candy.

from what i remember back in the 90s hoovers washers used to be good buy it looks like their rep has been messed up by candy models as for hoover makes candy.
imagine that you put some clothes to wash and you walk away and you have kids running up and down and the washing machine explodes, words can't explain my reaction to that if i was ever to be in that position

We've had the Aqualtis AQGD169S for 2 and a half years and it gave up completely today. The bearings went in the first year and the programming is shot. The bearings can't be replaced cause it's a sealed tub and that costs £200 and the control module is another £50. This is before vat and postage! Oh, and it gets used at least 7 times a week.
My opinion is if you want a nice looking washing machine that you use once/twice a week then I guess Hotpoint will fair pretty good....
... otherwise go for a Miele, Bosch or AEG. That's what we're going for next.

If I were you I would go for a BOL Miele. I can do a 6kg 40deg cotton wash in 90 mins, so that equates to 12kg in 3 hours. Plus When Miele say 6kg, they mean it....I was suprised how big the drum on mine is compared to friends who have 6kg machines...also really suprised at how much laundry is in a true 6kg load!
If you really want a bigger capacity I would go for Beko, LG or Panasonic, all get really good reviews. I am not against the Aqualtis, in fact I nearly bought one before my Miele, I just think you can get more for your money with a differant machine.

Granted fires do happen to machines, ether due to the user not maintaining them properly, or due to defective components However, in the UK at least Candy is viewed with quite a bit of disdain, apparently the main reason for them buying Hoover was to get a foothold in the UK volume sales market.
Our new Hoover Washer Dryer is a pile of junk to be honest, it will quite happily spin with the load seriously unbalanced and now rattles likes there’s no tomorrow. Candy certainly are living up to their “in the gutter” reputation over here.
It’s very sad.
