Window units can do the job
After all, we lived in a pre HUD 1970's mobile home that was all metal. Right smack in Central Indiana where the humidity can really soar. We could not afford nor would it make sense to run central AC. We heated with a hutch rebel wood stove all those years.
We had a US made Fedders in mom & dad bedroom and a 18500 BTU 220V Amana (with a Panasonic compressor) in the front half. My 6*9 bedroom was, unfortunately, in the middle. Nevertheless those 2 units more than carried the freight from mid April to mid October, year after year after year. And kept us cool for the most part. It was around 1978 or so I began sleeping with a fan and have done so to this very day, even in winter. Take away my fan and it will be WW3 for sure.
