Actually---Lynchburg is o.k.-------

I mean, it seems to be a pretty normal piece of Americana to me. Certainly it lacks nothing----is full of liquor stores, porn shops and other sin mills that make the world go 'round.
The average people off the street are like any other place.

However it only take a little cruise past the Liberty "complex" to see what funneling the vast accumulated wealth of Evangelical contributions has paid for. On the Falwell "homestead" is private airport that is the size of a commercial airport! The last time I went past it with Mark and Gary, the ramp was FULL of all sorts of "heavy metal" large business jets up to and including unmarked Boeing 737's, oh, and I spied a few military jets too----hmmmm.

The cost of building and operating an airport of that size is in itself---huge. Nevermind the amount of money funneled into the political/religious/media (propaganda-entertainment) branchs of this monster.

The scariest thing of all is the thought of how many Americans truly believe in this kind of "religion" and POUR their hard-earned dollars into it.And make no mistake---there are also some VERY wealthy companies and individuals---thousands actually, that also pour money into the coffers. Fallwell and the others like him could not exist without them! They have created a cottage industry! AND not a few of these industries were MADE financially successful by riding the tide of money flowing in. Quite the sordid affair.

Speaking of sordid affairs---I hope Whitten's embalmers did a good job as they plan to parade his body around untill next Tuesday. Will lie in state two days each at Liberty University and also at the church he founded. Whats all that about the body being "nothing but a shell" and "only the spirit achieves eternal life"? So why all the fuss over Falwell's remains? Oh yeah, I know----I just had to say it anyway. Oh, the hypocrisy of it all.

Oh and I just HAVE to get in the zinger about the Bush administration. Don't you know they will be at the funeral in DROVES!
Falwell once told an interviewer from Vanity Fair that "The Bush administration NEVER makes a major decision without consulting with him first". And that "not a day goes by that he does no call or recieve calls from Bush or Cheney".
Now, if those are lies---I NEVER once heard a peep out of the "official Whitehouse" propagandist to refute them. And you can believe Karl Rove (Bush's high-tech version of Joeseph Goebbels) would have screamed about it!

So what feeds this monster won't change----but they will die off. And we can look forward to the changes time always brings.

In the mean time who will step in to fill the vacuum? (sorry)

My guess is Rev. John Hagee.
A very powerful and hypnotic orator. And if you think Falwell was extreme----tune in to one of Hagee's shows sometime!

Never a dull moment----------

What gets me is how the average american is so brain washed about religion and when someone says "I'm involved with my church", they automatically think it's a good thing.

Well, it's not. I have a brother who is involved with some ultra fundementalist cult church and he's been a mess for many years now. He's always just one step away from being cut off from our family. We have had it with his "church ways".

So, it's not that you go to church that is good, it's what being taught in that church that counts!

End of rant.
