Liquid or powder? The saga of the suds lock........

Ive been using liquid Tide since getting my A407 a few years ago as Its been cheap at $9.00 a bottle and I like the smell. I just bought the same sized bottle of Persil ($16.99!!) so we'll see how that does. My issue is I have to use very little detergent or the machine suds locks in the rinse spin. Im hoping Persil is better for that but Ive also heard powdered detergent doesnt suds as bad?? If so should I switch to powdered Tide? Im not sure if the long travel or height of the stand pipe is whats doing it.

It takes a lot of detergent to suds lock a Maytag these days. Back before the HE detergents arrived it was easier. Maybe your water is soft and you can use less detergent. Your Maytag should be able to completely drain the tub in less than 60 seconds.

Well my drain hose is kinda long and the stand pipe is pretty high. The machine empties the water pretty normal but takes longer to get up to spin speed at times I think. What happens is as soon as the rinse comes on I can hear it foaming up in the outer tub and it slows right down and doesnt recover even after the rinse water stops. It just slogs all that water around slowly. However if I stop the machine and restart it then it will pump all that rinse water out but by that time the spin cycle only has another 60 seconds left top. I'll try and take a pic of the machine to stand pipe location to give a rough idea.

I think chemically a powder does better than a liquid. Laundress will know.
I try to stick to using just phosphated powders as I am in a hard water area.

You know, it may be time for a new pump. I'm just thinking unless it has always given you this issue, maybe the pump or even the belt to the pump needs replacing.
In the meantime you can dial-back the water pressure especially with a warm rinse.
I have very high water pressure, however, my old Highlander does not have a problem. It is also draining directly into a set-sink right next to it.

Could be a combination of all the above or even an obstruction somewhere such as the drain hole in the outer tub or the tub to pump hose. Just throwing out some thoughts.

Persil

Persil liquid is definitely sudsy. It’s locked up the filter flo just about every time I use it.

With all that tub space I would think it would be almost impossible! If you ever get a chance, you have to make a video of that!

Powder while cleaning very well gave me a lot of suds. Regular Tide powder dose not.
Since you've been using liquid detergent..you might have a little build up in the machine?
You might fill the machine with hot water, wait for agitation, then add a cup or two of just washing soda
(No clothes) let it agaitate for 5 min, stop it let sit 15 min to loosen whatever buildup might be there, then spin it out and rinse with hot water.
If there is a build up, the soda will break it loose and youl see suds (even though you didn't ad detergent) Helps clear the pump.
Can't hurt to clean it out, the see how it's acts

When Electrolux took over the FriGEMore front-loaders the reps. were advising people to wash their first loads with NO DETERGENT AT ALL so the customers could see how much detergent their old top-loaders left behind! It was pretty impressive the amount of suds generated. Of course, I'm not thinking the FriGEMore's rinsed any better, but, it was an impressive demonstration to the gullible general public.
