Recently Reinstalled our Maytag MDB5000 Jetclean dishwasher.. It's been working great for about a month now. Tonight I went to unload it and opened the door to a hot cloud of steam and very wet dishes, also full of water. I turned it through the cycle manually and there was no drain at the end of the rinse.. It rinsed until the end of the cycle and moved straight into the heated dry. I'm assuming the timer has gone as I've heard it clicking and chugging for a while now. I was able to turn it through the cycle and get it to manually drain, but not at the end of the cycle, it's as if it lost that portion of the timer completely.. It drains as required throughout the cycle and still cleans amazingly, but instead of drying, just stationary heated the final rinse water until the end of the cycle and the "clean" light came on, hence the steam and wet dishes. Best dishwasher we have ever owned and will be sadly missed.

Built like a tank!

Very heavy machines. I had a portable base model. I guess the solid wood top was part of the heft, but the thick steel base was also. I liked the fan drying on it.

Non Draining MT DW

Did it drain as soon as you tried turning the timer to a drain cycle earlier in the cycle ?

If not the motor probably overheated, if it only skips the drains at the end of the cycle you may have a bad timer.

Parts can still be found for this DW, I have several good used pump&motors for these DWs if you need one $100+ shipping.

In any event try running the machine again, I have seen motors overheat when people got carried away adding sound proofing insulation under the DW.

It drained throughout the cycle just fine, and drained once I turned to another drain cycle, just not draining at the end of the cycle. I picked up a used Frigidaire curbside off of Facebook this morning and installed it, luckily I had time since my work is closed for cleaning today.. Apparently an employee at the other end of the building was exposed to corona. Anyway, I'm not getting rid of the Maytag yet, just needed to get things rolling in the meantime. The Frigidaire is running an empty wash right now amd we will see how it performs.. It works and the price was right (free).
