I haven't used the Hoover yet as it has a leak that needs tending to. And I haven't acquired the Maytag(s) just yet so I cannot comment on that yet either.
Hoovers wash remarkably well and almost every Hoover owner has always been pleased with the washing results.

Glad to see you're thrilled about your Simplicity SuperTwin. I love mine, branded under the Speed Queen name. They are fantastic, well-built machines that do a great job! I'm envious of the mint condition yours is in - mine has quite a few scrapes to the cabinet. Previous owners kept it at a cabin, so I assume it was "rode hard and put away wet" over the years!

I lucked out this time and I'm really glad I did. The Hoover has issues, but this one came pretty much "out-of-the-box" ready to use-and that's what I wanted and needed.
I hope to get many years out of it due to that fact. As you said, they are well-built machines! I do prefer your machine's colour though and it seems your agitator is white. Am I correct? Never have seen it in that colour before-always the grey.
I am looking forward to fixing up the Hoover though and the Maytag(s) are sure gonna be some fun too.
But nothing beats that Speed Queen humm......

TT's with water heaters
Hey Mike, Twin tubs sold in the US and CAN ran on 110-120/60/1 power. If a hot wash is needed water from the home's water heater is used to fill the machine. Most NA homes have a 40 gallon or larger water heater which can provide enough hot water to do the laundry.

Welcome! I'm just north of you about 3 hours. I've liked the Maytag twin tub ever since a friend of my parents got one back in the early 70s I believe. She didn't have a laundry room in her house so she kept it in the kitchen. I also like the Hoover. Would love to find one with the auto rinse or a Maytag but they don't seem to show up around here.

Hey Scott...nice to make your acquaintance, too! So, I take it that you lived in New Westminster at some time?
My first Simplicity Super-Twin was purchased new from Woodward's way back in 1983, and it had a white cabinet, and also a white agitator. And yes, agitator in my harvest gold machine is also white. Eddy's (eddy1210) machine is an avocado 2-speed, and it has a grey agitator, so I guess that was standard for the avocado models. I envy you guys having the two speed model, although I'm not sure really how often I'd even use the gentle speed.
I had a look at most of your vids on YouTube (I posted a comment on #3 pertaining to the maximum water line in the wash tub.) Enjoyed seeing the beauty in action!

The first time I ever saw the Maytag twin tub was in the late 70's when I was a still just a kid.
I was playing at a Friends' house and as I was getting ready to go home, she went into the laundry room and started filling up the tub to use the machine. I didn't get close to see it fully, but could see the twin impellers and thought that was neat since my Mom had a Hoover twin tub.
But I never got to see it in action as she made me go home (lest my Mom be angry with BOTH of us) before she got it filled up and started.
That was the only time I ever saw one-until recently when I saw macboy's videos and then decided I wanted one!
And as stated, two are available in my area and I may just get BOTH of them and the matching dryer that's available with one at the end of the month.
I do hope you find something "fun" to enjoy and wish you much Happy Hunting and sucess.
If I see anything online I think you might like I'll be sure and send you the link-it's not TOO far a drive to TO to get a new toy

And yep, I did live in New West briefly in the mid 90's. Mostly I lived in Burnaby though for the 4 years I was in the Lower Mainland before I packed up and headed to Victoria for another 4 and half years.
I actually did my first and only "equity" show at New West S.S. in 1995. We did "Anne of Green Gables" there.
I also worked at CAWS in New West stripping and rebuilding appliances-that is where I got my start and my experience working on major appliances-and mostly water appliances, dishwashers were my specialty.
Don't think CAWS would be around anymore, but I sure do miss those days.
Westminster Quay was always a favorite spot of mine too.
Glad ya liked the vids. I actually think the 2 speed will be to my advantage. In my earlier years I would never have thought of using gentle agitation for my laundry. But since agitators can be rather harsh, I can use the lower speed for smaller loads and/or utilize the Whirlpool DD system of high agitation to begin and then 'stepping-down' the speed to minimize any possible damage.
BTW-nice job on your Maytag wringer! Your passion for your beauties is wonderful.
