Well I have self diagnosed my problem and it seems I just cannot turn down a "great" deal on a dishwasher!
I drove into the back of the Lowes here in Palm Coast tonite on the way home and came upon the machine in the pictures! It said it was "TRASH" on the door but there it was, a completely intact Electrolux EIDW6105GS dishwasher that was being tossed out.
It had everything inside of it except the owners manual and install instructions and the soap samples if they pack them in there!
All the drain hoses and mounting clips were there as well.
The top rack is still wire tied as well as the silverware baskets so they won't fall out of the rack.

I went inside and asked if they would mind if I took it and they told me that as far as they were concerned it was first come, first served and I could take it.

They also warned me not to confront the man with the trailer should he be there whenever I wanted a machine! He is the guy who takes all the turn ins and either salvages them or sells them for scrap.

Gee, If I had known, I would have taked the center dial Maytag A203 yesterday!

Anyway, Does anyone have any idea if these are good machines or not? I wouldn't want to install it and then be disappointed in it.

I am not a traitor to my Kitchenaids but my wife is haunting me to give he back the KDS18 and toss the KDS21-M ehich she says takes too long!

I would just like her to get used to something newer.

Anyone interested in the 21?

Let me now what you think of the E-Lux. I value the opinions expressed here.

Steve, congratulations that is one great find. Let us know how it works. There has to be some story behind this machine.

Frigiscare

I had the Frigidaire Pro series model which is almost identical to this unit but had a dark grey plastic interior not stainless steel like the model you just found. The lower wash arm has 3 individual sections and it is extreamly quiet. However,it truly sucks as far as getting dirty dishes, pots and pans or glassware anywhere near as clean as the GE Tall tub model I had in Florida. Also,my upper spray arm on the roof of the interior fell completely off,my wash motor(seperate from the motor that drains the water out)completely burned out during the first load ever and the lower spray arm disassembled itself during a sani cycle and melted on the heating element. All of this happened within the first two months of ownership. It was manditory that all the dishes had to be pre rinsed before loading and the casseroles and pots and pans had to be done manualy. The 1/8 HP motor just doesn't cut it.My GLD4450 was so much more powerfull, quiet and dependable and even though the retail price was a lot less than Frigiscare's rediculous $749,I only paid $90 at homo Depot due to a dent in the front panel.I had found the Frigiscare on Ebay and got it for $299 then had them ship it for an aditional $90.What a waste of time and effort.

We have the Frigidaire dishwasher that is identical to this one at work and the only thing the machine is used for is cleaning out coffee mugs, and it can't seem to do that well at all, I would return it and not waste your time with it.

The term

I had this model in my house when I bought it, only in white. It's now in the corner of the garage. BTW--the Habitat resale shop didn't want it.

The machine I had uses alternating wash arms. It washes the bottom rack, then the top rack then rinses the bottom, then the top, then it was done. I actually took dishes out that were dirtier than when they went in. My daughters sippy cups still had milk in the bottom. I tried several different detergents. I tried purging the water line so it was all hot, I even took a pitcher and added water to the machine myself.

I put up with it for about two weeks before I sent it to the freezing corner. Anyone wants it, you can have mine. I have a Maytag 300 series now. Not as good as my old Jetclean, but it at least cleans the dishes.

Some clients of mine have this same machine - replaced a (another?) POS GE tall-tub. Diane told me that she must rinse everything pretty thoroughly before putting it in the machine, just as she did with the GE.

It will be a fun toy - quite different machine than the Frigidaire but still a middling performer. It will be interesting to hear what your thoughts are.

Electrolux Dishwasher

Hi Steve. I have the same dishwasher, but the Wave Touch Controls. Model EWDW650GS. We really like the machine. Cleans well, especially the flatware. Much better than my Kitchenaid. What I really like about the machine over the other EUROPEAN models, is that this machines has two fans for drying, and you do still have to use the Jet Dry. The machine is super quiet and the blue light shining on the floor when the cycle is done is quite neat. The machine is also much LARGER than the rest of the European modesls, and the racking and tines are much more versatile. The machine has three filters on it and is self cleaning, except for the large one that would collect any large particles such as glass or bones, but this snaps out easily, (just like the ones on the Miele or Bosch), for cleaning. The machine also uses a lot more water the the other European models. You can download the use and care manual and installation instructions from the electrolux website

Now the service is also EXCELLENT! I had to have the water filter on the refrigerator replaced because it kept getting stuck. The part came Federal Express in a day, and the technican called and set up an appointment the next day. The dishwasher had to have an internal filter basket replaced, which came in a day, and the tech came the next day. So far, we are happy with all the appliances that we bought from Electrolux.

Steve....If there are any other questions that you might have please feel free to contact me.

Good Luck with a really nice machine.

This machine cannot be compared to the Frigidaire machines. It is a whole new product line. A friend of mine is a manager of a major appliance chain, went to school for these Electrolux appliances, and claims that they are top of the line.

It probably has some damage somewhere, is why it was thrown away.

I picked up a new GE gas range from behind Lowes one time.Inside Lowes, it retailed for about $900.00. It looked like it fell on it's front, the handle was tweaked a bit, and the frame around the oven was dented. GE probably told 'em to scrap it.

Ask the question..what's the answer?

Well, I appreciate all the comments so far and I have to tell you that I obsessed about it all day as to the reason it was trashed.

Stopped by Lowes tonite and spoke to the appliance sales manager and he said that he really had no idea why it would be trashed unless there was something wrong with it and Electrolux decided to scrap it and credit them for it and no bother to fix it.It should have been thrown in the dumpster is what he said!

I cannot see any obvious damage and haven't been able to find any recall informatioon on it so I guess I will just hook it up and see what the story is!

Like I said, the only appearance of being hooked up at all was some remnant of teflon tape in the inlet fitting but that was all. a few drops of water were in the sump but no water marks at all on the tank.

Hmmm. maybe a dead pump?
I will let you know as the saga continues.
Thanks again.

I sure do hope it's a better machine than the Frigidaire units. They always get lousy reviews from users.
This does seem to be a different design so maybe there is some hope!

you will love it or hate it

i would say satisfy your dishwasher curiosity by hooking it up and testing it a few weeks. then you will know. you especially, with your vast hobart knowledge will have this thing figured out inside and out! you will either love it or hate it!

for myself i picked up a frigidaire precision wash last year for 10 bucks and after i had it running only an hour i hated it. i compared it to kitchenaid which i should never had done! it has a tiny little motor and only washes one rack at a time which is a joke! i would glady give it away. i keep it only as a part of my collection to show what trash they are really building these days. let's hope your's doesn't earn the name "trash" that is written on it's front panel.

Stevet. For what it is worth, I subscribe to Consumer reports on-line. The dishwasher in question is in the testing progress now, results in July. One user wrote a review and thought the machine was great. She got rid of her Bosch. So go figure. Electrolux service came yesterday and changed out an internal filter basket. The only complaint that I had was that at times the were small amounts of detergent left in the 2nd wash cup. They said that they had this complaint and this was the fix for it. It was a new design of this filter. So we will see......

All I can say is that they offer great service. My wife did complain to Electrolux as to why these 2 appliances had to have service with just a few months of use. Customer service was so nice to her and is sending us a Visa Gift card for $150.00. Not bad. I will let you know if this remedies the problem.

on the money!

Gaotfarmer, you are right, Lowes did obliterate nearly the complete data tag on the door. I am going there in a bit and will see if I can find the "RTM" person responsible for destroying units there. Maybe she has an answer for why they did it.

Luckily, the Energy guide tag was still in the unit and it had the model number on it and it matched with what the ELux site is showing as current production.

Later,
Steve

I worked for Lowes and Home Depot

Any damaged products had to be credited for before they were trashed. We had to call the manufacturer and get an approval. Then,we had to Strip all the tags with the model and serial numbers. Then,we had to throw it down a massive dumpster that would smash it to a point of no return. There were other dealerships in the vicinity that would let me take there damaged goods for free or $10 or $15 but, I still had to remove the tags before taking them.Once in a blue moon,I would remove valuable parts before throwing them down the shoot but not that often.
