Re: Bidding on this Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaner:

If anyone knows of someone else in either the Appliance Club or Vac Club, that were going to look into Bidding on this Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaner, please be courteous to me seeing that I feel I've been courteous to others and not Bid against anyone, at least since I've gotten to know pretty much everyone's Screen Names, and/or Bidding purposes Names now. I might have Bid against someone quite some time ago, when I was new to the Appliance Club Site and didn't know most everyone as of yet, but it certainly wasn't done on purpose. I would gratefully appreciate this respect as others do also <br

These are GREAT FQ vacs-probably their best model.I have seen many of these used by vac shop techs to clean out customers vacs brought in for service. They are tough.Sadly the ones the techs use are pretty beat up.the paint is faded or scratched and the container is dented. These are ones they get as trade in or get this customers "abandon" them.I have been watching out for one too-have the vac shop operators looking.I have the "brown model" but not the "pink" one.both are excellent.their motors are more powerful than the motors used in todays "plastic" FQ vacs. The one shown in the link is in unusally good condition.nice machine-hope some Applianceville Vac guy gets it.

Re: Sorry:

I want everyone to know that I didn't Post my Thread writing to make anyone think that I'm talking about someone in our Club's. I Posted because someone the other day did try to Outbid on me and I think and hope that it was someone who either didn't know me as a Member of the Appliance Club Site or who wasn't theirselves a Member of either Club <br
"BTW" would someone please let me know what the Web-Address is for the Vac Club, I've seen about it on this Site, but I don't know the access to it. I would gratefully appreciate the info. I wish everyone well and hope all are having a wonderful Weekend of Fun, Washing, Drying and Cleaning. Would you either E-Mail me or include the Web-Address in a Thread Posting for me, Pleaz <br

FYI !!! shipping is NOT fixed, but an ESTIMATE !!

I just inquired about the vac and how they could ship something that big and heavy for only $30.00 priority. and here was his reply and below that I put my reply ........... <br
Hi: Yes, and the $30 is basically an approximate shipping charge..it will depend on how large the box is that I have to use to ship it and if I can get everything in ONE box..I may have to ship it in two different boxes, and yes, everything will be bubble wrapped. It would NOT ship Priority, for that would cost a good deal more...this is a very heavy Cleaning machine. It would have to be insured also. I don't know that I put that in the listing but I feel it would be at too great a risk to send it uninsured. Thank you much for your interest; have a great day <br
now my reply to above ............ <br
thanks for your reply, If I may please suggest your revising your listing whereas if your fixed rate of shipping is $30.00 as you state in your listing and that you will ship priority for $30.00 that contradicts your email above where you say the $30.00 is approximate, but it does not say in your listing that the shipping is an approximate or estimate and now you are saying above that you will not ship priority ??? It is important to me that this be shipped priority whereas, the difference between priority and parcel is literally a couple dollars and parcel goes through many handlers, multiple "holding" facilities. Priority SIGNIFICANTLY goes through a couple handlers and only one other locale on average. This HUGELY reduces loss and likelihood of damage. Let me know your thoughts and I sure hope I have not come across in any bad or disrespectful fashion at all. Thanks for your consideration in advance.

The web address for the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Club is www.vaccc.com. This should get you to the home page. But to use the forum there is a 25.00 a year membership fee. At a later time I will post some of the sites that are list on members only section. Some great collections and pics out there. If your interested in joining I beleive you can click on that link on the website and it will give you further instructions.

Re: Tank-U:

PeteK and Vinvac for the info about the Vac Web-Site. I will have to think about joining that Site. I don't feel that it should be charging at all, or at least quite so much, even though $25.00 per year isn't really that bad, but it is if your on a limited budget, most of the time <br

Regardless of paying a yearly fee which may be worth it, it's the fact that you can't get in to see what your buying. At least let people have a look and whet their apettites and set it up so only paying members can chat on the forum.

Bidding on this Filter Queen Vacuum Cleaner:

Hi all <br
I know that many of you are very close and I have a lot of respect for that and I'm not trying to cause any trouble but am I the only one who has a small problem with the suggestion that I wouldn't be courteous if a club member bids against another "club" member? Steve, I don't know you so this is by no means a personal attack. It's just that I have seen these suggestions/requests in other collecting communities and it has been a very sticky situation with many hurt feelings. I would rather broach this now instead of when it could be a problem that may involve me <br
Let me give a hypothetical situation, if I may. Let's assume that I, too, saw this same Filter Queen and it was just like the one that my grandmother had when I was growing up. It then becomes very nostalgic for me to purchase it. In fact it is so important that I'm willing to bid a ridiculous amount to own it so that I can recapture my youth. Now I have to think about bidding against a club member. Isn't eBay an auction? <br
Steve, Do you think that the suggestion of not bidding against you might possibly put your "friends" in an awkward position? I have always told my friends (when we go to auctions together) that I don't want anyone to "back off" as this interferes with the whole auction process and hurts the seller as well as the possibility of hurt feelings. Some times I walk away a winner but sometimes I walk away losing to a friend. I just chock this up to "this is life in the auction arena" . <br
I'm by no means the "auction police" so I will not bore you with the details that what was suggested is a federal crime BUT as an active eBay buyer and seller (this is how I can afford to indulge in my hobbies) I can say that if I were the seller of this Filter Queen then there would have been a big problem. Who knows... the next auction that catches everyone's attention just may be...or one of YOURS!! :- <br
I'm expect that I will be flamed for this post (I hope not) but it has been kind of bugging me for a couple of days now and I just had to get it off of my chest. I would welcome a healthy, constructive discussion about this :-) <br
Steve....I AM sorry that you didn't win the FQ. It was a real looker. You'll find another one!!! The closest thing that I have to it is the original box that was from MY grandmothers pink FQ!! :-) I was considering bidding BUT a couple other things came up instead. <br
Very respectfully!!
Rich

rich, i agree with you. maybe its best for members of a groups such as this to simply not discuss our intentions? between friends i can understand some compromise but between a large group, too messy.

Who's got a match, my flamethrowers gone out!!!!! LOL <br
Hmmm, well I never thought of it that way Rich and I can see your point but then I can see it the other way as well. Is this what a you call a debacle or a conundrum? <br
Brett..the problem lies in that even if you don't discuss your intentions most people probably know the others i.d and can see them bidding on the same item. That is, those who use the same ebay/washer forum id at the least.
Personally myself I wouldn't but if for some reason it came down to it I suppose the valiant thing to do would be to let them know beforehand why. <br

When it comes right down to it, no one owes anyone outside of their family/spouse a living. However snatching something from someone known to really to want it is just mean IMHO. Some are blessed to be in a position to pay any amount for an item, others are just not so lucky. What is wrong with giving someone else a chance <br
While one does like posting links to live auctions that may be of interest here in the group, have to wonder if at times such postings are counter productive. Just so every one knows, when I see an auction with a member (am pretty good knowing who is who these days)already bidding, I will not post the link here. Now and then one may slip by, but as learn that person was/is a member, will give them the courtesy of not "blowing their game" <br <br
As for Steve's post, saw nothing wrong as he spoke the truth. The man is a very nice person (so far as one knows), and merely asked people he considers his friends/co-collectors to give him the same consideration he gives others. Was it wise to expect such a thing, or express it openly? Who can say? <br
