The ad mentions the new Timed Spray Cycle--was that at the beginning where the water ine was purged while the pump continued to drain? How could that warm up the wishware. I can kinda understand the dishwasher interior if it's simply adding wter while it pumps it out.

it's either an 11 or 12.

my kd-12's have the purge at the beginning, don't have any earlier models to compare to. am interested in knowing if this purge was first introduced on the 12 series?

i guess it warms up the wash chamber a little bit but not that much. it does provide for hot water during the main wash at least.

KA DW PURGE

The water sprays over the dishes from the left side, it doesn't warm all the dishes evenly but it does help in the overall effort of warming the dishes in preparation for the main wash. This is why Robert went to the trouble of adding a detergent dispenser to his machine because the purge would wash most of the detergent out of the little basket and down the drain.

Kitchenaid to the 4th power. I really like todays ad, (the 4 house scenes). You can count on your kitchenaid time savings to 1. Have coffee, 2. to work on your flower garden,3. Enough time savings to make a cake of course with your Hobart mixer. and if that isn't enough, 4. You can get dolled up and go out for the evening, while your powerful KA cleans up the dinner table mess. I can just imagine "Don Draper" approving the mach-up. This is really a nice ad. alr2903

If you look at the video of Robert's machine, you will see that the water inlet to this machine is not just a hole that lets the water into the machine. It is an angled jet that sprays water up and out to wet down the interior and really flush the detergent out of the little screen basket before the wash started. Not having enough detergent in the wash water can really impair the cleaning. KitchenAids of this design filled with 2.3 gallons of water and needed every bit of detergent that box would hold. Losing part of it in the purge was not good.

My 14 had a problem with losing the detergent for the main wash during the prewash. I modified the dispenser and found that gel type detergents were not as susceptible to dissolving from the water that leaked into the dispenser. This greatly improved the washing results.
