Wow, now that's service! May you have many years of dependable service! Post pics soon.

I'm curious as to what type of motor the Imperials have. Other SQ models show "variable" type motors, but in the comparison section it states that the Imperials don't have that, but doesn't state what it is?

Imperials So Far...

Well, the delivery crew showed up at 11:30. The machines are installed and running as I type this. All I can say is WOW! Speed Queen makes no claims of how quiet their FL machines are, but these things are amazingly quiet.

I can only say that the pump is as quiet as my Bosch dishwasher when it drains. I hear a slight hum and water going down the standpipe.

There are four short pulse spins between each rinse. They appear to be quite affective as by the last one, there isn't a surge of water being pumped out.

There is a spray nozzle above the door opening that saturates the clothes as well as sprays down the inside of the door. It appears to be controled by its own water valve as it seems to flow independent of the flow through the dispenser drawer.

The rinse portions are short but functional. All the rinse needs to do is dilute the solution and then pump it away. And that is what appears to happen. By the third rinse, the water is suds free.

Photos and video to follow.

Whoa! These are already in your house and running! That was FAST! I'm guessing you like their performance based on what you said. So they don't hesitate for ten minutes deciding that they can or cannot spin? I can't wait to see pix n vids.

omg i got so sick and tired of my LG, that's the reason why i got rid of it!!! the cycle was 60 minutes at the least, 10 minutes of it was it deciding to spin EACH time!!! then almost every 5 loads i would go downstairs thinking after an hour and a half my clothes would be done and they would be sitting there in soapy water with the stupid error code blinking. then i would have to hit rinse and spin which would take 15 minutes, then restart the whole cycle. my machine didn't have a drain and spin option, just rinse and spin, which bothered me!!!! when i got my filter flo and a load only took 20 minutes i realized how much better it was having a top loader. and my clothes finish the cycle EVERY TIME.

Really? I don't think I've ever had a cycle not complete on my Duet! Sometimes it doesn't hesitate to spin, other times it take ten minutes (but always ultimately spins.) It's still annoying. I can't believe it's almost 5 years old and still running great! I'm waiting for something to conk out on it soon. We shall see. I'm thinking a SQ will be next if the Duet has any major issues.

Spray Rinse

I did figure out that it does a 25 second spray rinse before the first pulse spin after the wash.

Malcom, sooooo nice! Are the parts that are normally plastic stainless now? Such as the dispenser drawer front, window housing, knobs, etc.?

More photos please!

Malcom,

What a beautiful set! Can you take some detailed photos of like the detergent drawer, and the drum? It's hard to see any of this from SpeedQueen's website. Can't wait to see a video, or two, or 15...

Best,

Andrew

Questions

The front of the detergent drawer, the door surround, the inner clothes guard, and the knobs are plastic. But that is pretty much it. Everything else appears to be stainless steel or some other type of metal material.
