perfect shutter timing

Jason, timing is everything :) Loved the pictures of your new house....It is Friggin FABOU !
I have had several friends that had the fried turkey at their holiday and said it was quite yummy. May have to talk the bro-in-law into doing that one year.....in fact I am surprised they haven't.
Bri is looking beautiful. I wonder what she will have to say about your helping of BRI cheese when she sees your perfect shutter timing :)
Do you really think that the washer should not be put on heavy duty? My sister just recently purchased Kenmore Elites. She had the washer set on heavy duty. I remembered Bob mentioning this was not good for clothes. Is it really that rough on them. I will tell her to back the speed down. Let me know, Thanks ! Tom

We had a fried turkey also here in Connecticut. Our host also made a roasted turkey, so there would be enough for all. Well that fried turkey was a show stopper. It was moist, crisp and succulent all at the same time. That carcass was picked clean and every possible morsel was eaten. Unbelievable!!!

As for the heavy duty setting on the Kenmore, I have the Whirlpool and yes, that setting is way too harsh for anything!! Year old towels are frayed at the edges, new shirts have buttons ripped off and all the clothes wear very prematurely. Now, the inside of the machine smells of mildew. This has never happened to a washer of mine before. And no it isn't in a damp basement and yes, the lid is always open when not in use. I have decided I hate that machine passionately. Next stop, Speed Queen top loader......

Shutter timing: I had no idea that the shutter would go off right at the perfect second.

Fried vs. Baked. I like fried because it's fun to watch (i have video) and it does come out juicy. I rather old-fashioned baked turkey though. So the answer is have both. Invite alot of family over and see which one gets GOBBLED.

Kenmore E-1337: Definitely not a lady. I always use the slow/fast setting and don't overload. Here here on the SQ top loaders, the LAST of the long stroke agitator machines, and they spin well and fast. I definitely would have my eye on one when I move out.

Bri's a little angel on wheels. It was fun exposing a yankee to CAJUN culture. She got to drink Mello Joy coffee, listen to some live cajun music, and all the bad food that made Lousiana the bottom of the list for the country's healthiest states.

Ty hunny for taking such great photos. I appreciate it, since I wasn't smart enough to bring my camera. I had a blast in cajun country, nothin like it. I think I fit in pretty well especially after my accent kicked in. You took such good care of me as always Might you tell all our friends here what happened on fri?

Jason,

I do hope that you enjoyed a few beignets for breakfast. After a visit to Cafe Du Monde I never wanted to leave LA!!!

Can't seem to get them up here in the north :-(

Looks like you had a great time....Good for you :-)

Bri's adventure

Well, I brought Bri back to New Orleans for her flight home. Her flight had a stopover in Chicago and then on to Boston. The man at the gate announced that there was a "slight mechanical problem" and that it will be fixed shortly. I asked the man if Bri was going to make it to Boston because she is in a wheelchair and needs help getting in/out of the plane. The man said "Sure, she'll get there no problem". Well... turns out the weather was freezing in Chicago and no flights were going in or out. Bri was stuck all night until the next flight in the morning. Luckily a nice lady who worked for the airport stayed with her and let her rest in a lounge with a couch and a tv. Saturday morning, Bri made it to Boston with her luggage and all was well.

Because of all this, she got a $300 credit from United so she got me a ticket to go to Massachusetts for Christmas. YAY!!!!!

ooooh BE CAREFUL with gas-fired turkey fryers. Major fire hazard. I was happy to see it so FAR from your house.
(Not a trailer..LOL,, you funny).

Electric turkey fryers are now out at Home Depot. At least the oil temp is regulated...

The hazard IIRC is mostly from dropping (rather than lowering) the bird into the hot oil, which then spills onto the flame and... you get the picture.
