Chocolate potatoes
Can't even imagine that being good.
It reminds me of a potato chip flavor from probably a few years back.
One of the Lay's experimental flavors was cappuccino.
I thought, I like coffee, I like potato chips. I'll try them.
When it first hit my taste buds, all I got was the cappuccino powder on the surface.
Not bad.
But then, after chewing for a bit, the potato flavor kicked in with the coffee flavor.
I literally gagged!
Two enjoyable flavors separately, but not together.

I wonder if when that husband came home from a long day at work, kids screaming Daddy, Daddy and he actually could have enjoyed something different. While the poor housewife was busy with whatever during the day and made one of those recipes and husband and kids hated it. What a letdown.
My paternal grandmother, who grew up in Louisiana, is the only one I've ever known to make floating island.
I made Floating Island once as a newly wed to impress my new husband. It was OK, but not something I would say that I crave. Much ado about nothing, and not worth the effort, in my humble opinion.
But it did impress, because David still talks about it to this day when ever we see someone making it on TV. He’ll say, “You made that for us”.

Now look at that! That certainly got new followers with all the one pot pasta recipes all over the internet!
Floating islands is great, but you have to make it with a "real" custard with lots of egg yolks and no cornstarch. And especially not with oil! What on earth does that oil do in there?
Louis, will keep in mind to make a picture when I make that sauce. Don't know yet what to do with it. lol. And will use my own mayonnaise instead of Hellmann's.
