Why Has Whirlpool Never Sold a BOL Power Clean Module?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Like I said before, if I want a quicker cycle I can have that done in just over an hour at the expense of slightly more water and energy. But I’m really not bothered about the cycle times as it tends to go on overnight and I will unload it in the morning, all I have to “put up” with is pressing the start button and going about my day (or night), and come back to unload at a time there convenient to me. The whole point of a dishwasher (and other appliances) is that they do the work for you in the background while you can get on with your day elsewhere. I really don’t understand the hurry or the rush for it to be done as quickly as possible everytime unless you are entertaining.

Not being sarcastic or facetious, but do food particles still dissolve on the 1 hour cycle? Will the filter clog up after constant use of the 1 hour cycle?

The dishwasher with the gross filter is very typical because people don’t know how to use dishwashers. We see it fairly frequently.

Or perhaps, they are realistic enough to know that the function of a dishwasher is to clean dishes.

This comes from using the one hour cycle that has no heat. It also is from using cheap Eco detergent that do not work, and we constantly see people who literally throw the detergent in The dishwasher rather than putting it in the dispenser which further ruins performance there’s a lot of idiots out there that’s for sure.

Right, because people want their dishes done in an hour. I think the constant use of the 1 hour cycle speaks for itself as to what consumers actually want and need.

American dishwashers are the end of the world for their great performance while probably half the people in the US do prerinse they’ve always done it. They don’t understand how machines work they don’t understand that your dishes actually get cleaner if you put them in dirtier

People pre-rinse due to the fact so many US dishwashers lacked fine filters, long enough main washes, ample hot water, maceration and good water distribution. Every single dishwasher outside of the Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module, high end Maytag Jet Cleans, some Kitchen-Aids and the GSD2800 lacked in some or all these categories.

US Dishwashers become the best in the world, by far when the Whirlpool Power Clean Filter Module and Maytag JetClean with the long heated main wash came to the market. After that, they've become some of the worst in the world.

Maytag jet, clean dishwashers constantly had clogged wash arms little bit of plastic things go right around that filter system. It was not that great a system. It was one of the most frequent service calls. We did on the plastic tub jet clean Maytag.

Plastic bits do not belong in any dishwasher. Just like they should not go in a garbage disposal. This I would actually call user error.

Filters in modern dishwashers do not accumulate soil if the dishwasher is being used properly filter will self clean. They need very little if any cleaning in the life of the dishwasher.

I think used properly is a relative word in this thread with variable goal posts.

That said the best system in the world currently is the self cleaning micro screen filter system that KitchenAid and Maytag using their premium dishwashers. It has a much finer filter than any removable filter and since it’s spinning at 3400 RPMs and has two wiper veins on it, it never clogs and never needs any cleaning.

Still can't do what a Power Clean can do.

The system also uses the most powerful motor and most durable type of motor of any dishwasher sold in the world right now.

1/16th house power vs 1/3 horse power. What a tragedy.

People are not pre-rinsing now versus what they did in the past, current dishwasher’s work better overall than dishwashers ever worked the combination of better detergent better cycle programming longer cycles has made for superior dishwashers worldwide.

Plus, the idea has been hammered in that you do not need to pre-rinse both from manufacturers and environmental groups detergent makers nobody recommends pre-rinsing so i Definitely see far less people pre-rinsing dishes today.

Chet you need to get out in the real world and deal with customers and people either in sales repair design or something and stop getting your information off people who whine on the Internet. That’s not a statistically accurate sample.

Bosch has always had a removable filter even on US models. Many GE have also. I think the Nautilus one from the 90s, too. It was at the back of the tub. More of a screen pocket. My GE has an oval one. Not a fine filter, but for larger things.

I am glad you have signed and sealed your statements. Going by your own admissions people are using the 1 hour cycle, pre-rinsing, and filters are getting clogged.

Appliance makers, detergent manufacturers and environmental groups are free to say what they say too.

Our KDI-17a was initially used every day. No prerinsing.

The parents slacked off on use of it for the two of them after the offspring exited from home.

The 2002 GE that replaced it didn't get much use other than holiday gatherings. I never prerinsed for it, can't say what mom/dad did on their occasions of using it. It was prit'much like new when ...

.... replaced by a WP last Nov 2024 as part of sister and SIL refurbing/updating the house in preparation for moving in with mom. It's on the pattern of use only during gathering/visits. They primarily use paper plates, although not so much disposable drinkware and utensils. It's a mystery to me. Plenty dishware there.

Whatever your opinion on appliances is and where they’re made, there’s absolutely no need to describe them in a racist manner.

And yes, without opening a can of worms, as much as some deny it we do need to be kinder to the planet whether we like it or not.

No Jon, that is something you projected on to me. There's only one race of people in the world, but there are many different tribes.

Ask the people who lost homes and families in the wildfires and the earthquakes and the mudslides and floods that are happening all over the globe right now how the Earth is doing

This new filter wash system that whirlpool’s been using for about 10 years on their premium machines is an engineering masterpiece easily as great as the power clean system while using a lot less power it filters far better than the power clean systems ever did. And only whirlpool builds it more proof of their continuing best appliance engineering in the world.

WHAT???

The worlds worst placed filter in dishwasher history.

Yikes! I have to agree, that is a terrible place to put a filter at in a dishwasher. And I-yi-yi, I was just reading over the comments in the videos, this is a very common problem. I don't feel comfortable now buying one of those dishwashers.

If you can’t see how your comment was racist and could come across as offensive, there’s nothing more I can say.

Which is all caused by global warming… but that is perhaps a topic which should be discussed on the paid forums without digressing too much from here.

Not sarcastic/facetious at all. Yes, they do. It will use a third more water and higher pressure in the wash to achieve the same results, with the trade off of using slightly more energy to heat the water, and ever so slightly more noise with the high pressure. Soils are still held in suspension in the sump, and pumped away at the end of the wash.

You can even use the “extra clean” option on the quicker cycles to add a prewash and a rinse, which adds about 15 mins or so to the cycle off the top of my head.

No, I don't read racism into it. Should we live a life void of offense ? Many people here offended me by the things they said, but it's okay. I don't take any of it personally. I'll still love on the haters.

Yes and it was global freezing in the '70s and acid rain in the '80s and I have no idea in the '90s or now..... It's all control of YOUR life Jon....wake up.

That is a nice feature, speed is a good thing and great that option is offered. I wouldn't worry about the slightly more energy used.
