Cunningham & Pickett Norway Rose

I don't recall mentioning this before now, but last summer my wife happened to stop at a local thrift shop and noticed a huge collection of salt & pepper shakers that had just come in.  While looking at them she noticed a pair in perfect condition that looked like they matched our Norway Rose pattern, and the set was marked 50 cents.  She bought them, and when she got home she found that they did indeed match.  Later, when I got home, she had me look to see if Replacements.com had a pair, and for how much.  They did, and still do.  The current asking price is $169.95.

Since then, the thrift store staff has gotten a little smarter also.  All remaining salt & pepper shakers are now kept in a display case, and are priced @ $6.00 a pair.

Hey Tom! (CircleW)

Sorry for the late reply--haven't been able to spend much time on here. When we left town, we lived in Price Hill. Before that, in Covington, just down the hill from Villa Hills. During my single years, I lived all over--Mt Auburn, Clifton, Mt Washington, Pleasant Ridge.

And thanks, I agree, it's a pretty pattern. (I can say that since I didn't choose it!) It kind of floored me when I found out just how old it is.

Another Norway Rose score today......

So last night as I was perusing the local Craigslist garage sale section I saw that a yard sale on the east side of town had some Norway Rose china for sale.  Normally I wouldn't have given it a 2nd thought but, there was a teapot along with the other pieces.  Now the teapot is SUPER rare, and sells for big bucks on Replacements & Ebay when available.  I asked Bev to check it out, and the seller was asking $40 obo.  Either they didn't realize how scarce the pot is or just wanted the stuff gone.  She paid the $40 without any hesitation.  Here's what we got:

1 sugar bowl w/ cover

1 creamer

1 gravy boat

2 gravy boat underplates (can also double as relish plates)

2 square salad plates

11 dessert plates

6 coffee cups

10 coffee saucers

12 berry/sauce dishes

1 teapot w/ cover ( chip on end of spout)

2 11" meat platters

1 round serving bowl

10 soup plates

My next project is to keep enough for a service for 14, and sell off the excess this winter.
