That advice doesn't mean running the machine for one or two items.  It refers to maybe 1/2 (or even 1/3) to 2/3 full vs. packed.  The premise is that dishwashers nowadays take less water for a partial load (barely more than 3 gals) than running a faucet while hand-washing a few items several times per day for a small (one- or two-person) household.  It also refers to people who don't use their dishwasher because they're averse to dirty dishes sitting/waiting in it for a couple/three/four days until a full load accumulates.

Given I used Cascade product the entire span of my adult life until the Bosch arrived, I recognized quickly on from the beginning of the first of the two Kenmore (WP/KA) Elites in 2006, I could hear suds slowing down the wash arm during main wash. I may not deviate fromm Finish products.

No Jerome. Knowing what I know from being able to experience both, I'd stick with Finish due to lack of foam, which is generated by Cascade.

cascade suds

Cascade just can't leave well enough alone. They think suds equals clean. It doesn't. I found that Finish has better cleaning power in their ultimate formula regardless of what CR says. I'm not going back to Cascade for dishes, just like I'm not going back to Tide or Downy for laundry. I'll stick with Persil and Snuggle for laundry and Finish for dishes. Finish Jet Dry works better than Cascade Power Dry ever did too.
