At least we won't have to worry about him running for President now (remember that old thread?).
I wish I had something good to say about Falwell, but I don't. I'll leave it at that.

and all that, still I am hard pressed to think of anyone who did more to hurt women and gays, democracy and Johannian Christianity in the US than this man.
Just as the Holy Roman Empire was none of the above, so is the "Moral Majority" neither moral nor representative of the majority.
If there is such a place as the heaven this man preached, then it would be interesting to see him explaining his attitude towards Jews to one who really made it big: Jesus...and that is just for starters...

Somebody once told me to only say good things about the dead. Falwell is dead. Good.

I won't say I'm happy his passing, but I can't help but feel a grim satisfaction. And I can't help but think about all the people that I know, both living and dead, who were personally affected by his hateful interpretation of Christian scripture.
He was a charlatan, a thief, a racist, a homophobe, and a religious fraud. Just an all-around jerk. Of course, we'll be subject to a week or so of crocodile tears by people who want to kiss up to his followers, but at least that will be the end of him.
