???????

Malcolm,
So what are you gonna do? Do you want me to contact my New York dealer where I bought my SQ TL or are you going to wait?
Either way dude, stick with SQ.
Mike

It Depends

I suppose it all depends on the salesman. If he can get me the Imperial set quicker, I'll go that route. Otherwise, I may cross my fingers that my current machines will carry me through to Feb.

I'll know for sure in the morning.

Malcolm

Dude, get the Imperials (even if you have to wait) and can swing it. Just having a washer with the name "Imperial" is cool. :) I'm very curious about how they look "in real life" - they were on my list (and still are for my primary house, not the condo when the Whirly's go), so it would be nice to see them outside the brochure. I doubt that most dealers have models in the store to see on those. There are some obvious differences that only the Imperial have...but I can't really figure out the differences between that and the regular FLs...other than everything is stainless.

I'm glad SQ was able to get the info for you. They are shockingly honest about their models if you ask them directly about reliability, vibrations, etc.

According to the link above, AJ is nearly $400 more expensive than my local SQ dealer. Wow.

Jetcone, did you order a Speed Queen as well?

Imperials

I do like that there is an actual badge of "Speed Queen" on the front left of the machine. Very nice. I would fork over the extra cash for the Imperials, if they could get them for me in a more timely manner than 6 weeks.

Malcolm

I love the fact that SQ uses a piano hinge on their FL doors. Wow! And the door/window is in the same shape as the Speed Queen Q is really cool. SQ calls the indicator lights, "Q" lights. ;)

Hey Malcolm. Go for the front loader. You will be happier. Don't settle for something that you may not be happy with. Then you will always be saying to yourself that you should have got the front loaders.

Agreed.

I agree rayjay. So many times you settle for something that isn't exactly what you want and you end up being haunted by the choices that you made.

Malcolm

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Malcolm,
Congrats on your new "investment." I wish you alot of luck. If I had to get a front-loader those machines would definitely be my first choice. I'm really glad you decided to stick with Speed Queen. Please post some pictures when you get your new toys.
Mike

Have you ever noticed?

Whenever one of us starts a SPEED QUEEN thread, it winds up getting at least 50 or more hits. There is trully alot of interest in these machines. I wonder if the "Brass" at Alliance know how much this website and it's members support SQ/Alliance products.

Pedestals

I did order the pedestals but they are out of stock. The machines will be deleviered without the pedestals. Once they get in stock, the pedestals will be added.

Delivery is either tomorrow or Monday. They will contact me in the morning with the confirmation.

( No heater in the Imperials )

Malcolm

Awesome...hope for tomorrow. Will be tuff to wait on those babies--even for a few days! I think the Imperial comes with the red inserts pre-installed, but you can choose any other color (comes with all colors). Do you have to order the pedestals by color, or do you get different inserts?

Pedestals = one color

The pedestals only come in one color so I chose the black ones. That way, I can change the inserts and they wont clash. They had white ones in stock, but I would rather wait on the black ones.

Malcolm

Good installers...

Black is very nice with the stainless. I hope you get good installer. I downloaded the install manual and made a list of things to check for (like keeping the shipping materials, adding the 1st qt of water (TLs), and other little things like those miracle rubber caps on the legs that keep the machine at a standstill). I saw a post somewhere that the installer failed to remove some of the shipping bolts on a FL! Wow. My installer STILL over tightened the water hoses and didn't secure the vent well...those are on the to do list after the holiday.

We can't wait for pictures/videos!!

Laundry.

Oh, I can muster up a load of laundry pretty quick. Seems there is always something in need of washing on our house.

Malcolm

LG and Duet

I think a big difference between these and the LG's and Duets is the true horizontal axis wash tub. More even water distribution. In the LG's with a full load, the stuff near the door flops around and never sees the pool of water. Can take a long time to soak down and saturate the load.

I think that is why I noticed better results only filling the machine 1/2 to 2/3rds full of clothes.
